Herald of Agony is a gem tag associated with active gems which grant the user a damage buff and a special effect upon killing an enemy under certain conditions. Each Herald has a mana reservation cost of 25% skill gem. When activated it reserves mana and grants a buff that gives a chance to inflict poison on enemies if the enemy is successfully poisoned the character gains Virulence and an Agony Crawler minion.
[Poe Pathfinder] Great single target damage without Barrage or Elemental Hit Pathfinder Build
When you poison an enemy with Herald active you summon an Agony Crawler scorpion and start gaining Virulence (caps at 40). Your Crawler is a MINION which does projectile and area attacks. So the scales with all kind of attack damage as well as generic minion damage and physical+chaos damage. Crawler also scales directly with Virulence stacks. You need to keep hitting enemies and poisoning them in order to maintain these stacks, and it's only possible with fast attacks, high chance to poison and decent mobility to chase monsters around. When you lose all stacks your crawler vanishes. Master Toxicist Pathfinder passive directly helps to keep Virulence stacks up!
Pros:
+ Decent AOE
+ Great single target damage without Barrage or Elemental Hit
+ Great clear speed with usual high Pathfinder mobility
+ Permanent flask uptime
+ No need to Pierce heavily, like in CA setup
+ Reflect Immune
+ 45-65% dodge
Cons:
- Still pretty squishy as relies mostly on acrobatics and Evasion. Leech is there, but pretty low with Quill Rain
- stacking Virulence is harder with a slow bow
- Mana issues are there because of high APS (for Quill Rain)
- 111 INT required for proper gearing
For Ascendancy:
Nature's Boon, Nature's Reprisal, Master Toxicist, Nature's Adrenaline (uber lab). Master Alchemist is also a very good safety option for HC

[Poe Pathfinder] High DPS even if budget(see build progression) and Ideal for League Starter
There are 2 types of people who see this 3.6 patch. Those who can't wait to try out the new skills and balanced spells; and those who are afraid of getting trapped and chose the wrong spell. If you are the latter, maybe you can consider a minion starter build like this one.
1. Regarding Curse Buff
- Curse effects on bosses are buffed. This means elemental weakness is finally back on the menu again.
2. Regarding Assassin's Mark Buff
- To understand how it is buffed you need to know how crit chance on minions is calculated.
- In 3.5, level 12 Assassin's Mark gives 9% additional chance to crit.
Minion will have 5% x (1 + 200% x 3) + 9% = 43% chance to crit with 3 power charges.
- In 3.6, level 20 Assassin's Mark gives 2.5% additional chance to crit. But this chance is now affected by crit modifiers, so minion will have (5% + 2.5%) x (1 + 200% x 3) = 52.5% chance to crit now with 3 power charges. the level 12 data is still unknown at this point, but the final result should be still higher than the original 43.
3. Regarding Hatred Nerf
- GGG wants Hatred to be used on Cold skills, or to be exact, Glacial Cascade.
- The more multiplier is not going to work well on this minion. In fact, it is around 20% less cold damage dealt now. It is still fine as we have other damage types, so it is just a small loss on dps.
4. Regarding the new Quiver
- There's a new quiver called Maloney's Mechanism. It even has 3 sockets!
- It also triggers socketed bow skills when you use bow skill. This means we can have Toxic Rain - Curse on Hit - Projectile Weakness setup on the quiver while we still have a 6L on Quill Rain to do almost anything.
5. Regarding Convocation buff
- By cutting off the cooldown time from 8 seconds to 4, bad decision making on recalling your crawler is now less punishing. This should be a big improvement in our game experience. Minion Speed Support is still recommended though.
Pros:
- High DPS even if budget(see build progression). Ideal for League Starter.
- You need 0 mandatory uniques. SSF-able.
- You are ranged and minion shatters enemies. Fairly safe.
- Unlimited flasks for boss sustain.
- Can do all the contents. Including all kinds of boss fights, map mods, delving deep, and even phasing through the darkness for fossils when you are out of sulfite.
Cons:
- You need to adapt to the sometimes-buggy minion AI. We have this fixed here.
- Proximity Shields are annoying.
- Mods that reduces the chance to poison will be a bit harder.
- You have almost no Armour or evasion. Survival would be based on your crowd control skills and flasks.
- Not HC viable in my opinion. Some gears in this build provide decent dps but bad survival stats and are never considered by HC players. This build is written for softcore players and is meant to just push farming speed to maximum prior to survival. You won't die a lot We guarantee, but random unlucky things will happen, you never know.

[Poe Pathfinder] None to minimum performance impact on low-end computers Rusty Poisonous Steel
Lancing Steel attack modifier isn't that great, but it really shines for its ability to shotgun bosses with more than 3 projectiles (up to 7 if you are really that skilled).
With 5 projectiles fired by default, you can invest your whole five supports for pure poison damage. And with Pathfinder and poison nodes from the tree, you get solid poison duration of over 6 seconds and can stack up 40-50 poisons on bosses.
This is my highest level character so far in PoE and the one with most achievements. We could clear every map with it in the previous league, and make Uber Lab runs trivial. Shaper was doable, but survivability can get the better of it sometimes.
Pros:
+ None to minimum performance impact on low-end computers.
+ Most forgiving on bad connection with lag spikes.
+ Hit & run build, encouraging fast and enjoyable pace while clearing.
+ Have all the different kind of nodes available, allow picking the best and most efficient ones.
+ 100% uptime for flasks.
+ Cheap to moderate unique items. With upgrade potential for rich guys.
+ Immune to reflect at endgame (Almost!)
+ Can go Dual curse.
Cons:
- Main defense is RNG based. Shaper and tougher content can be Tough.
- Need more Int & Strength via Poe Currency items.
- Poison damage is hard to scale at early levels.
- Require constant upgrade to both weapons during leveling.
- Knowing when to swap supports can be elusive.
- Actual dps never show on the character sheet, it needs PoB.
