In the summer of 2020, the Elder Scrolls Online (ESO), the next-generation upgrade of MMORPG, was announced, which brought graphical improvements on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. It is now clear what the update will look like and when it will appear. When will the upgrade occur? Zenimax Online has announced that this update called Console Enhanced will be released on June 8. Released at the same time as the Blackwood console version, this is the next major expansion of MMORPG.
ESO is getting more and more beautiful on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S
The upgrade brings the following changes: Compared with the current version, it is obvious how precise the graphics of ESO will be improved. You can expect these changes:
60 fps-Previously, ESO's performance on Xbox One and PS4 was limited to 30 fps. It changes. On Xbox Series X/S and PS5, you can use the enhanced version at 60 fps, making Eso Gold smoother. However, higher fps has other effects. As shown in the example of Black Desert Online, high frame rates may even cause more damage. This is because players can react faster with a smoother game and can cancel part of the animation at a higher frame rate. This will make the combo quicker and cause more damage to you.
Increased field of view-The updated field of view has almost doubled so that you can see more of Tamriel's world. For PvP, this is especially interesting. Because seeing the opponent at a distance has the advantage. This is why it is also essential to set the visibility of options as high as possible in the PC version.
Higher-resolution textures- the textures look more refined and more delicate, very close to the surfaces of the PC version. Everything is no longer as vague as before.
Optimized anti-aliasing-reduces the flickering of leaves, grass, and the edges of buildings, making objects look clearer from a distance. It is not yet possible to say how anti-aliasing affects performance. Players are likely to turn off this option in fast PvP battles to get faster fps.
Improved reflections-water and reflective surfaces get better reflections, which should increase detail and increase realism. It is also conceivable that more detailed reviews will affect PvP. For example, opponents can be identified more efficiently based on their reflections in the water.
Improved shadows and ambient occlusion-Shadows have higher resolution and appear more transparent, and due to optimized ambient occlusion, the details in the shadows are richer.
Improved Depth of Field-When interacting with NPCs, the background in the game looks more realistic and softer.
The loading time should be significantly reduced by a shorter loading time due to the SSD hard drives in PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Zenimax assumes that they will even cut it in half. So far, for example, console game players have had to wait a few minutes before leaving their home or room to enter the wilderness. The player said here for 5 to 10 minutes. Even just loading heroes to play takes 3 to 4 minutes on the console. Therefore, it is advisable to halve these times.
The balance here will be interesting. PS5 and Xbox series X/S players will play with higher visual effects and higher fps with users still on PS4 and Xbox One. Especially in PvP, there must not be unfair advantages such as more damage.
This is why the update may be necessary.
ESO is struggling with performance issues, especially on the console. Developers have been studying this issue for a long time. The revision to the championship points system has brought some improvements. The Console Enhanced version can especially score in terms of performance and make MMORPG at least playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Sixty fps is the announcement of the team. Of course, it remains to be seen whether it can also be achieved. We will see this on June 8.
