where we are going to explain the Main bosses in Path of Exile. In this article, we will cover most of the main bosses that a new player might fight. We will not be covering the Uber fights or rare things like Owl. LOLTANK will do a quick Guide and just a very fast breakdown of all the bosses. Some of the more advanced ones have long in-depth Articles, but we can cover pretty quickly each boss in Path of Exile.
The Black Star
This boss features an arena that's rotating with two zones. One zone is long runs where you stack fire resistance, and the other is grandson, where you stack cloud resistance. You get more damage taken from the opposite, so you don't want to build up a large amount of either one. By rotating between the two zones, it'll reset, and you'll start building the other. As long as your stacks are pretty low, a lot of her attacks won't do that much damage. She does have one very dangerous attack called Astral Avalanche.
She's very good at vocally announcing what ability she's going to do. If she does Astral Avalanche, you can generally try to hide behind pillars. If you do use the logout strategy, do remember that things will not appear visually. So you can get caught out and die to this very easily. Make sure you hold your invulnerability when you're re-entering the fight.
The Shaper
The Shaper is one of the two current main endgame bosses in Path of Exile. Most of the skills can be avoided by staring directly under him or just running around him in a circle.
This integration will create a wall of flame, a set distance away, that will be followed up by another move called cleansing, which will throw the flame walls directly away from the boss. Incineration is a huge charge-up slam. This will hit most characters, so make sure you move away from this.
The Maven
The Maven is a new endgame boss that was introduced in the 3.13 patch. Her attacks are a mix of physical and elemental, and she also spawns various minions.
She has several phases, and during the intermission, she spawns continuous lines of rolling meteors to pass through the arena, and as the Maven destroys them, she creates gaps. You can also flame dash through them or just walk through the gaps.
The Elder
The Elder is another endgame boss that is fought by placing Elder Guardians on the Atlas.
The Elder is immune to damage until all four of his guardians are killed. Each Guardian has its own set of skills and mechanics that make them challenging to fight. Once all four Guardians are killed, the Elder will become vulnerable, and you can fight him.
Sauna
Sauna is a boss that will create a shield in the center of the arena as long as she's alive. She will teleport around and create purple balls that will fly around and do a large amount of damage. You want to try to avoid popping a degen circle inside the middle of the arena. If you see one headed towards you, try to pop one at the outside of the arena. The sauna will also do a slam, which is a wind-up, where she will appear in the air above you and then slam down. Flame dash away as she appears directly above you to avoid this attack.
The sauna will also sometimes create a portal that spawns minions outside. Just kill them, and that won't be a problem. It will also have a clone, and the clone will be one of the biggest problems because the clone, while you're doing the added face, will fire a beam toward you, and that beam will kill you. This is a fight you really do not recommend ever logging out of, and if you're on hardcore and you have to log in, it's sometimes better to ditch the fight.
Uber Elder
Uber Elder is a combination of the shaper and the elder. At the same time, you need fragments from both the shaper and the elder and fill out the map device. You'll be able to damage them 25 at a time. They'll take turns being immune and being more active.
For example, the shaper, which you gain at 75 or 74 health, will have a purple shield, and you can only slam him while he's sort of the active boss.
So depending on which one's active, they'll do more of their abilities. Generally, they'll fire a lot of the same moves they're already familiar with, and you just have to keep watching out for both abilities at the same time.
There will be tentacle monsters that spawn, and they will sort of poop on the ground and make a void sphere sort of thing. But for the elder, it's like an eldritch degen, and these do stack with the shaper balls. So if you have a shaper ball and the elder dot on the ground, that will do twice the damage. So be careful that you don't let these stack in the arena.
Maven
After collecting enough splinters to complete a Maven's Rit, you can engage the Maven. During the phases you fight her, the Maven has a couple of attacks that you can easily avoid, but usually, the usual movement around the boss is required.
It's a slam that's easy to avoid by not being inside the shiny box of Honduras or her little companion, which is also able to do a slam.
As far as a beam across the area, also don't be inside this.
When she eventually screams "mine," all the orbs will chase you for a short while before exploding, and you just want to sort of let them detonate on you as you're moving, and hopefully, you won't be caught inside the explosion. People remember the memory game as her most infamous mechanic, where she goes invulnerable and shows you a sequence of what Simon says.
After that, she says, "scary, scary." So you just have to play a simple game of Simon Says while doing it correctly. If you're inside the growing circle while you complete it, it will still fire off for full damage. So, even if you're doing it correctly, keep it outside of the circle while detonating it.
In conclusion, these are some of the main bosses that a new player might fight in Path of Exile. We hope that this guide has helped you to understand the different mechanics and strategies for each boss. Remember, with practice, you'll be able to defeat these bosses and progress through the game.
