We are discussing the crucial changes needed in Phase 2 of Season of Discovery in this Guides, covering everything from PvP improvements to enriching the overall gameplay for hardcore players.
PvP Event Enhancement
Firstly, PvP needs to be revitalized. With the introduction of Arena Grandmasters and the Tidal Charm, PvP will become a major focus. I propose transforming Ashenvale into a more dynamic experience for PvP. Imagine a scenario where players protect or hunt a specific named player, adding an exciting layer to the PvP event. The change could lead to a significant improvement in the PvP experience, thus making it more strategic and engaging.
Layering Issues in PvP
There is a need to address layering in PvP as well. Currently, the multiple layers dilute the intensity and stakes of PvP. Reducing layers would increase excitement and prestige, especially around coveted items such as the Arena Grandmaster and Tidal Charm. Maintaining the integrity of PvP requires this refinement.
Class-Specific Rune Quests
In addition, every class should feature an epic Rune quest line in each phase. While not all Runes require elaborate storylines, having at least one per class adds a sense of adventure and discovery to the game, which some classes, such as priests, lack. We aim to make acquiring Runes as exciting as obtaining them.
Revamping Waylaid Supply Farming
The Waylaid supply farming process, a vital task for obtaining Runes, needs to be revamped. Currently, it is inconsistency and frustration-inducing. It would benefit considerably if it were more predictable and rewarding.
Encouraging Extended Play for Hardcore Players
The lack of long-term goals has been a concern for hardcore players. While the current mode is enjoyable, it does not provide enough for players who invest hundreds of hours in it. The introduction of visually appealing and challenging objectives, which do not necessarily require legendary items, can keep these players engaged and motivated.
Bonus: The Need for Dual Spec
Several community members have requested dual spec implementation. The new Rune system would benefit greatly from this, since players would be able to fully use their Runes without respec fees or rigid spec choices. Players could be energized and gameplay could be more flexible.
