WoW Classic's Season of Discovery is here and we're starting it off with a leveling guide. We'll be giving you the essential tips and strategies to efficiently level your Shaman whether you're casting spells, getting up close and personal, or tanking dungeons.
About Shaman
The Shaman class in World of Warcraft Classic's Season of Discovery has changed significantly in its first expansion. Manipulating fire, earth, air, and water to either heal friends or hurt enemies with elemental magic and melee capabilities is what Shamans are known for. It's exclusive to the Horde faction in WoW Classic itself where it can take on the tank role in dungeons and raids instead of just being able to heal or hurt things.
Why Choose Shaman?
Leveling as shaman feels very fluid and versatile. You'll have very little downtime due to our class' toolkit. Healing yourself is a massive advantage that ensures you're always ready for the next battle. While totems aren't always necessary due to how fast combat moves at this point in WoW Classic History it can sometimes be useful to use them like dropping Earthbind Totem for quick escapes or crowd control.
Shamans early runes
where Shamans can unlock their full potential with early runes.
Ancestral Guidance: For three party members over 10 seconds this powerful ability converts 25% of your damage into healing Find it in the Kar battle plans area in Durar Interact with the Adventurer's remains and start the ritual (note: you might need another player to assist) This rune is easy to acquire and significantly boosts your healing capabilities.
Molten Blast: Head east of Razor Hill and locate a frozen crab To unlock this use fire abilities to apply five stacks of the flame debuff causing it to perish and drop its rune You can't attempt this before Level 10 unless you have allies with fire abilities to assist Additionally defeat 10 mobs with Earth Shock to fully unlock and equip this ability
Dual Wielding for Shamans: Find the stealth NPC behind the bag vendor in Thunder Bluff Torin Shamans have easier access while Orcs and Trolls might need to level up to safely travel here You'll have three quests collecting explosives in a mine gathering acorns (watch out for other players stealing them and a fishing task These grant the dual-wielding ability.
Shield Mastery: Find a random totem in Durar Defeat 10 enemies using lightning bolts and you'll acquire the rune This is a must-have for Shaman tanks.
Way of Earth Rune: Make your way to Silverpine Forest and kill brde mystics Killing these mobs will eventually award the rune Be cautious when you use the item that spawns it as a hostile mob is immediately summoned If defeated the mob will drop the rune.
Talent Build and Abilities
Going down Enhancement tree is highly advised There are lots of talents that make leveling easier such as Thundering Strikes for crits and Improved Ghost Wolf for faster movement Flurry also makes your attacks faster after critical hits.
To have a strong character you need to use magic and melee. Start by using Flame Shock and then start swinging with Lava Lash for a big hit. Save Earth Shock though. I know you want to use it, but you don't want to run out of mana too quickly. If you're fighting multiple people in a dungeon, use Molten Blast to do more damage but keep in mind that it will use up more mana. If you're leveling on your own, just keep smacking them with Lava Lash as long as you have enough mana.
Choose Your Weapon Imbues and Gear
Stick Rockbiter on your weapons every time. This will give you more attack power which gives you higher damage output. Both of these together will help keep your enemies away from you in dungeons. Put agility, strength, and stamina gear higher on your list when looking for items. Keep an eye out for weapons when going through the auction house too — getting cheap ones that are one-handed like maces, axes or daggers are super helpful.
Consumable and Buffs
Consumables aren't needed while leveling up but they can definitely be a boost if you're stuck in tough fights. Add Agility and Strength Potions plus Elixirs of Firepower into your lineup to help against mobs that hit harder than others. Boon of Blackfathom buffs should also be used whenever possible since they can only be acquired every two hours.
Tips for Quick and Efficient Leveling
Use Macros: Add Start Attack macros into your Lava Lash to streamline combat engagement.
Optimize Gear Swapping: Always carry around a second set of gear or weapons for different situations.
Maintain Weapon Imbues: You'll need Rockbiter Weapons on both weapons so make sure they're applied (set it up in macros if possible).
Auction House: Stay updated to find affordable upgrades (especially ones that one-hand like maces, axes or daggers).
Talent Flexibility: Stick with Enhancement but mess around with Elemental talents if you'd like a taste of something different.
In Conclusion
Leveling a Shaman in the Season of Discovery is an insanely dynamic and rewarding experience. The right combination of talent, gear, and ability can make progression simple, whether you prefer to solo or tackle dungeons.
