Become a Master of DPS: Tips for Success in Final Fantasy XIV

Final Fantasy XIV is a fun and challenging MMORPG that offers a variety of jobs for players to choose from. To be successful as a DPS in Final Fantasy XIV, there are several important things to keep in mind. First, understand that everyone is a DPS and contribute as much damage as possible. Use combos, global cooldowns, and AoE attacks to maximize damage output. Additionally, read the tooltips of your job's skills to understand the full potential of your character. Finally, practice on dummies and stay alive by avoiding incoming enemy damage.

One of the most important aspects of the game is DPS or damage-per-second. DPS is the amount of damage a player can do to their opponents in a given amount of time, and it is the key to success in FF14.


DPS is important for every job in the game, not just the ones with the title DPS attached to them. Tanks and healers also need to contribute to the group's DPS to be successful. If a tank or healer doesn't contribute, then the group is at risk of failing the dungeon or boss. To maximize DPS, players should use combos, global cooldowns, and AoE (area of effect) skills. Combos involve pressing a button and then seeing another button light up, and pressing it. This will result in a myriad of benefits, such as gaining mana or doing more damage. Global cooldowns are free-to-damage buttons that cost nothing and should be used whenever possible. Additionally, some jobs require players to press certain buttons to unlock more powerful abilities.


Players should also take care to stay alive, as taking unnecessary damage reduces the healer's DPS and puts the group at risk of wiping. Finally, players should practice and read their job skill tooltips to ensure they are getting the most out of their abilities. Striking dummies are located all over the game and provide a great way to practice.


Overall, DPS is essential in FF14. Players should practice and use all the tools available to them to maximize their DPS and make sure they are playing their roles to the best of their ability. Doing so will increase the group's chances of success and make the game more enjoyable for everyone.
