Path of Exile 3.22 Lightning Strike Ascendant Build Guides

In this guide, we'll take a closer look at our progress in Path of Exile, specifically focusing on the Lightning Strike build and how it holds up in the deep Delve. Currently, we've made significant progress and are positioned at rank 18 on the leaderboard with a depth of 3,239. We anticipate climbing higher to around 3,500 shortly.

Challenges of Lightning Strike

One of the primary concerns we had when adopting the Lightning Strike build for deeper delves was its limited shotgunning potential. Many popular skills among top players exhibit infinite scaling or shotgunning capabilities. Skills like Molten Strike, Tornado Shot, Eye of Winter, and more dominate the meta due to these mechanics. Lightning Strike lacks these attributes, making it an unconventional choice.

Comparing Lightning Strike to Other Skills

A quick glance at platforms like Poe.ninja reveals the prevalent skills used by the community. Molten Strike, Splitting Steel, and others shine due to their scaling potential and high damage output. However, Lightning Strike remains an uncommon choice at this depth due to its limitations in scaling and damage potential.

Challenges Faced in the Delve

Despite these concerns, our Lightning Strike build has been holding up well. We haven't encountered many challenges related to mods in the areas. Occasionally, a combination of rare mobs and challenging area mods present difficulties, but these are manageable.

Abyssal Depths Bug

The only noteworthy issue we've faced is an Abyssal depth bug that renders some encounters uncompletable. Other than that, the overall difficulty hasn't significantly increased from depths of 1,500 to our current level. Boss encounters remain similarly timed.

Five-Link Depth 3,000 Run

In a bold move, we decided to run a node with only a five-link setup, which deviates from the meta as many players opt for more links. The main motivation was to test the Divergent Behead Support gem, which has the potential to steal powerful buffs. Unfortunately, our experience with the gem wasn't very positive as it didn't reliably grant strong buffs like Soul Leader. We found it underwhelming and inconsistent.

Exploring Molten Strike

To address our concerns, we briefly experimented with Molten Strike as an alternative to Lightning Strike. However, the results were disappointing. Molten Strike didn't seem to offer a significant damage improvement compared to Lightning Strike, even though we expected it to be a game-changer. The necessity to hit a target for the projectiles to emerge was a notable drawback.

Conclusion

In summary, our Lightning Strike build has been performing admirably in the Delve, and we haven't felt the need to switch to a more conventional skill. Despite concerns about its scaling and damage potential, it has proven to be a reliable choice. We remain open to feedback from the community, especially from fellow Lightning Strike users, to improve our build. For now, we'll continue our journey with this unique skill.
